Magellan lost Two-Thirds of his Ships and Died Unexpectedly Sailing in Uncharted Waters – Scenario Maps for 2024 Investing
Announcements:
- Because we are meeting on the third Saturday this month, the Income SIG will meet on the 13th instead. See the Chapter Information web page for details.
- We will be conducting a chapter survey in order to better serve our attendees. Please help us by participating when we make the announcement at this January 20th meeting.
Dennis Stearns joins us again to kick off 2024 with his insights and research.
2023 was quite a year! We survived the lowest investor sentiment in decades coming off a terrible 2022 for both stocks and bonds, recession “certainty” as the year began, sticky inflation, the fastest and highest Federal Reserve rate hikes in decades, a banking crisis, a potential government shutdown, a new war in the mid-east, and seven dangerous trends and events. Investing appears to be getting back to normal with bonds and stocks, but unusual market dynamics are still creating both traps for the unwary and opportunities.
Dennis will discuss potential headwinds and tailwinds for 2024, balancing risk and reward, plus how to develop pivot/adaptation strategies if more wildcard events happen.
