Retirement Portfolios

  • In response to feedback on our 2024 Chapter Survey, this will be our last meeting at the Barwell Road Community Center. Starting in August, we will meet at Fairmont United Methodist Church near NC State.

Using a sophisticated Excel-based spreadsheet, Dr. Israelsen will demonstrate the impact of different variables (withdrawal rate, asset allocation, portfolio cost, etc.) on the “survivability” of a retirement portfolio over every rolling 25-year period since 1926.

Main learning points:

  • What variables have the most impact on retirement portfolio success?
  • 4% withdrawal rate vs. RMD
  • COLA or no COLA during retirement
