Presentation Summary:

In order to invest well over a long-term, investors have to first survive the short-term. While a case can be made that the current bull market can continue, it will come to an end at some point. Furthermore, traditionally, people are taught to ‘diversify’ their portfolios as a way to mitigate risk. My contention is neither diversification amongst equities, nor diversification amongst asset classes can be counted on to protect a portfolio. An active and vigilant process is needed.

Note: Mr. Hicks published his book, Evidence-Based Investing, this past summer. The first chapter is available from his website, www.TheodoreHicks.com/#Downloads.
