Jim Verdonik and Benji Jones will describe the $50 billion per year crowdfunding marketplace including debt and equity offerings. They will discuss new types of securities being sold in crowdfunding offerings, such as revenue share notes. Also, they will explain the types of crowdfunding offerings from small offerings, by local businesses to large public offerings. Finally, they will look at how crowdfunding differs from traditional investing and discuss the positives and negatives for both investors and businesses raising capital.

About our Speakers
Jim Verdonik and Benji Jones are securities lawyers with Ward and Smith, P.A. in Raleigh, North Carolina, where they represent both businesses and investors in a wide range of investment, loan, licensing and M&A transactions, as well as counseling management boards of directors on company issues. They wrote North Carolina’s crowdfunding law. They have written two books “Crowdfunding Opportunities and Challenges” (Lulu, 2016) and “Crowdfunding: A Legal Guide to Investment & Platform Regulation” (Thomson Reuters, 2016). They also write a monthly column for Triangle Business Journal and blog at “Entrepreneur Intersection.”
