2024 Chapter Survey
Summary and Takeaways
Chapter president David Drake will present a summary and key takeaways of the 2024 Chapter Survey. The chapter’s board is grateful for the 96 people who responded to the survey, about a third of whom do not attend chapter meetings. The survey consisted of two parts:
Part 1 focused on whether and why you attend meetings, what you want to learn about, whether you can help with chapter leadership, and what improvements the chapter can make.
Key takeaways:
- Top 2 reasons for attending meetings
- Top 3 reasons for not attending meetings
- 38% – 31% – 31% split for Investment Strategies, Investment Vehicles, and Other Topics, respectively; top 10 topics of interest
- Healthy interest in a new Personal Finance SIG and in lunch groups
Part 2 covers chapter demographics: age, education levels, levels of wealth and debt, retirement plans, and reasons for investing.
Key takeaways:
- Average age ~72, above average wealth and education levels with little to no debt (will compare to the 2022 FED Survey of Consumer Finances)
- Mostly self-directed investors
Besides these takeaways, David will explore a bounty of other information. His presentation will conclude with what the chapter plans to do in response to the survey.
