The annually rebalanced 50/50 stock and bond portfolio seems to break down in extremely challenging conditions like 2008, as scared investors sell everything and ask questions later. Emrath lives in Raleigh, North Carolina, and holds a MBA from the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University.
