About our Speaker

Ms Borchardt graduated from New York University with a Master’s Degree in Business and Economic Reporting. On an early job as a TV actor, she met a broker from Merrill Lynch, which led her to the securities business. After many years in the industry working in just about every aspect of Wall Street, she found she needed a career change. She realized financial journalism allowed her to use her creative talents and business background. After earning her masters degree, she was hired as a reporter at TheStreet.com, where she worked both on and off camera. She was fortunate to have Jim Cramer as her mentor and eventual friend. At TheStreet.com she began reporting on the cannabis industry, where she exposed some dodgy companies in the industry.

To focus on smart financial reporting on the cannabis industry, that she foresaw was needed, Ms Borchardt was motivated to start the cannabis financial news website Green Market Report. With her partners, they have created a media company that is two years old and has been covered by other news outlets around the world, including TheStreet.com.
