The number of people diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease is projected to more than double by 2060 to 13.8 million people. In 2022, total payments for care for individuals with Alzheimer’s was estimated to be $321 billion–this number will continue to grow as a growing population continues to age. Carla Payne, founder of Aging Care Matters, provides insight into the trends in aging care and sheds light on the nature of rising elderly care costs in the United States.

About Our Speaker:

Carla Payne, owner of Aging Care Matters, LLC, earned her Bachelor of Science in Human Services and Masters in Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. In 2004 she became an Ombudsman serving as an advocate for those living in skilled care facilities. Carla earned a certificate in Gerontology from West Chester University and her National Certification in Care Management. Over the past 14 years she has provided direction, intervention, and solutions to families in need. In addition, she has served as a chapter board member and unit leader with The Aging Life Care Association in both Pa & NC. She was recognized as the 2019 SE Chapter Member of the Year which consists of care managers within 6 states and will begin her role as President of the Southeast Chapter in January 2023.

Carla’s company, Aging Care Matters, LLC provides home safety, cognitive, and resource eligibility assessments; care oversight; planning and problem-solving; education and advocacy; family caregiver coaching/counseling; and crisis intervention. In addition Carla has recently opened an adult day center in Wake Forest, NC.
